Expect mostly sunny skies, breezy winds and temperatures in the 90s across North Texas

Spotty threat of thunderstorms in North Texas Wednesday night
Spotty threat of thunderstorms in North Texas Wednesday night 02:11

We are starting to get into the heat of summer across North Texas, with air temps in the 90s, but feels-like temps near the triple-digits as a result of high humidity.

Fortunately, we have a strong breeze that holds in place through Wednesday, which should help cool things off, at least a bit.

Forecast remains mainly dry this week, except Wednesday evening and overnight into Thursday.

This is as a cold front sags south into North Texas, bringing the spotty threat for thunderstorms during that timeframe.

The Storm Prediction Center has most of the metroplex under a 1-out-of-5 risk for severe thunderstorms. That threat is slightly higher, a 2-out-of-5 risk along the Red River.

This will primarily be a strong, damaging wind threat for the area, with the possibility of some small hail.

That threat starts to clear up into Thursday, with just a leftover, isolated shower chance.

Beyond that point, the Summer Solstice arrives Friday, and it feels like summer, no doubt.

Air temps stick in the middle 90s through the weekend and into next week, with feels-like temperatures even hotter.
