Expect clear, sunny skies in North Texas ahead of new storm system next week
Saturday delivered a near-perfect spring day after a cool start. The last morning was colder than Saturday was in the first week of April.
Another great day is on tap for Sunday, with another cool start and lots of sunshine. May the fourth be with you.
The next big weather event is Tuesday. We could have scattered afternoon storms on Monday with a chance of strong storms in our western counties by evening.
By the morning on Tuesday, we are expecting a large swath of rain to cover North Texas. A First Alert Weather Day will be in progress.
Since this is mainly a morning event, the severe weather threat will be tempered somewhat for the metroplex. As the afternoon goes on, we'll watch our eastern counties for storms that have better chances of producing large hail and damaging winds.
This system could deliver significant rainfall amounts. We are already at a slight risk of flooding, with higher risks just east.
We'll have afternoon storms for the rest of the week as an upper-level low spins over Mississippi and Louisiana for several days. Temperatures will stay slightly below normal with a north wind and afternoon clouds.
