Jalonie Jenkins, 25, was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, but was unable to appear because he was hospitalized at Ascension St. Alexius Medical Center after his arrest.
Police had been looking for 25-year-old Jalonie Jenkins since last Thursday, after the bodies of 21-year-old Janiya Jenkins and 10-year-old Eyani Jones were found in a home in the 1600 block of McKool Avenue last Wednesday night.
The victim, identified as Freddy Roberto Pena-Busto, was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he died.
CBS Chicago learned that the victim, a 64-year-old man, was working as a contractor and was part of a crew working at a construction site. He was unloading a van at the time of the incident and was stabbed over 10 times.

It happened just before 8 a.m. in the 2400 block of West Gladys Avenue near the CTA Blue Line stop.
